Bartosz Comfy and melancholic, this album's vibe is intoxicating and demanding repeating listens.
Thank you for making it. Favorite track: Siren Bay.
The Serial Listener

The Serial Listener I haven't craved re-listening to an album this much since I found Polyphia's Renaissance back in 2017. This album is so soothing and gentle with great verses and choruses. The acoustic guitar really sets the mood without being too much. I hope Rapt will make more music like this and not just instrumental ambient. Favorite track: In Withering Sleep (I-III).

violetregier Wow. I feel like I've been completely in the dark on a genre of music I didn't know I loved. Favorite track: Backwards.
Solemn Sunday
Solemn Sunday thumbnail
Solemn Sunday This is some top notch stuff. The marrying of folk and ambient sounds is something I don't think I've heard before, and it's done expertly.

In a sea of ambient music that feels oppressive I would say this has a uniquely hopeful and beautiful feeling to it not found often in the genre!
Midnight Vega

Midnight Vega This is the perfect fusion of Dark Folk, Indie and ambient. The lyricism is hauntingly beautiful, and the guitar work is astounding. My favorite from 2020🖤❤🖤 Favorite track: Siren Bay.

Siren Bay 05:18
Sometimes it feels just like
 I’m drowning in the water
In time it erodes the riverbank As if fleeing in order Sometime I’ll reach the other side Floating freely across the sea Ahead it swells I feel its pull Sometimes I feel just like I’m headed for new land With time it may run dry I’ll feel it settle in

Ahead it swells I feel it pull Ahead it swells I fear its song
2.
Backwards 02:50
I never saw it It’s been calling me backwards Light was out before you
The dark’s pulled us under I never felt it Our curtains bound me You’ve been falling over The fear is leading forwards We’ve no faith
3.
Today I am a dust cloud settling On an opiate breeze You found me turning blue And shaking like a thief in a noose A shadow on our skin Lay hidden from view How was I to know Her hair would hang disheveled, strewn around Hallways and empty rooms In flesh the road it twists and turns In flesh we gather truth Today you bring the ashes back Through backstreets we knew So put me on the mantel And I’ll keep watching you Here on the mantelpiece Way up high I hear no sound and my nights Have all merged with my days Through the living room My thoughts play on loop For half our lives we watched the flickering lights Though all things pass And turn to dust I for one never pictured a fleeting gasp Here amongst the photographs yellowing A fading reverie Never did the things I said I’d do For I only adjusted to running Never did the things I wanted to For I was just afraid of sinking Today I am a dust cloud settling Tomorrow I’ll be gone Lost amongst a dream In withering sleep Come back to me in love In simmering touch I’m lost amongst a dream In withering sleep Come back to me my love In simmering touch I’m lost amongst a dream In withering sleep How was I to know

Headlights 03:42
In your sleep, you mumbled ‘This is the end of days’ Now I can’t help overthinking What you really meant Outside a storm was beating and Headlights lit the wall up bright, all night I’d followed you through the winter To bright skies in May I lay and thought about it till dawn The sun seeping through curtains drawn For whom do you burn For whom do you burn so bright For whom do you burn tonight You grabbed my arm In the dead night and said ‘Hey lets dance again’ We’d never been out dancing We’d only wait in line As the rain hit the window A draught creeped my thigh In thrall to all emotion I’d watched the days go by I lay and saw the corners grow dark
As the sun seeped through I thought For whom do you burn For whom do you burn For whom do you burn so bright For whom do you burn For whom do you burn tonight

You came home silent as if from a dream You can’t back yourself out of
Thinking of our life and death And all the things left unsaid I gave you a garden, planted a tree So we had something to look out on Forgive me for my wrongs I only did what I was told What I was shown I only did what I was told And here is where we meet today I looked down a dry stone well I thought of water and it’s flow A chalk mark in the rain And how we all wash away I can’t keep a thousand of me I could I barely keep one Forgive me for my wrongs I only did what I was told What I was shown I only did what I was told And here is where we meet today

In Passing 05:52
High on the wet hillside
A path lit by the moon Where the valley comes in view Red crosses hang I hear a voice calling
It’s flittering down As if a cold wind I remember you White glimpses of cloud Passing through the gloom You said it felt unreal I see a figure loom

Dragged across the blue shore Through the morning hum Here you were my sunbeam Now you pass in the night I woke in dawn’s dew Spinning sleep’s deceit The day I brought you here
 We laughed at what’s beneath

 A train pulling away
 Heading for a plume
As I watched it out of view I remember you

 Daybreak like a whisper
Passing a sickle moon Here you were my sunbeam Now you pass in the night

Now you pass in the night
Now you pass in the night Here you were my sunbeam
Now you pass in the night
7.
I slept by the port’s edge last night The wind was freezing above If I slipped into the water’s edge Would the things I put by Reach your door If only we’d know Your words echo in my mind
Like an ever glowing flame If I fell thirty feet one day Would the light I left behind Haunt your thoughts If only we’d know
If only we’d know None of this will matter anymore

Way down the line we’ll meet Different clothes on a different street ‘I thought of you’ you’ll say But not as I have pictured you each day If only we’d know
 If only we’d know
None of this will matter anymore

about

I went through some painful physical challenges making this album, my health failed me for a period just after the release of 'Within Thrall'.

After months unable to play electric or acoustic guitar, I realised I was just about able to play a classical guitar. This changed the entire sound and direction of what i'd been writing so far.

With many thanks to Filip at Z-Tapes for the cassette release. I'm glad to be a part of a label with such a diverse and talented roster of artists.

Thanks again to Demi Haynes for working with me from across the pond (despite us having never met) and to Fern his musical contributions.

Nestor Middleton was due to play piano but covid messed that up, I did my best attempts to mimic what he would have done.
