Previously released under the name 'Psalms' - 'Via Ad Lucem' (Way to the light)
TLDR - Old project, never properly released.
Before Rapt, was Psalms.
In 2021, Danny Yates, the drummer on this mini LP and dear friend, said to me whilst walking through some woods..
'To me, Psalms said 'Life is shit', whereas Rapt says 'Life is shit, but it will be ok'.
This for some reason made me dust off my hard drive and dig this project out. Perhaps these two monikers are not as separate as they seem in my mind.
For the purpose of archiving and displaying the roots of Rapt, I have decided to re-release 'Via Ad Lucem', a solo black metal/post-black metal venture I made circa 2014 releasing this mini-lp before disbanding the project.
If you've read this far, two fun facts on this mini LP.
1. I wanted to capture the drums in a very natural way, there is very little in the way of post production, no triggering and no time correction.
I also wouldn't let Danny hear the material first, I provided the guitar tracks, a metronome and an additional metronome that warned a tempo change/pause was coming.
2. The lyrics are not published, as I have no idea what many of them are. I've lost the lyrics and haven't thought about them since.. 2015.
